I first came across this acid house video when one of my neighbours in Hulme, the video artist Mark McClean, introduced himself to me. He was part of Stakker, a collaborative graphics project with Colin Scott. They made this great film, which was very unique for its time, and then had to find music to go with it. They found their music and Stakker Humanoid was the result. It’s the image of the Japanese girl that sticks with me. For me it is very evocative of the acid house scene.
Mark said at the time that he was going to go New York again and that perhaps I could go with him but I didn’t see him again. He went on to work with the very successful Future Sound of London also from Manchester.
